What MOQ actually means — and how to work with it

Minimum order quantity is not a barrier put up to annoy small buyers. Understanding why it exists helps you plan around it.

MOQ exists because printing and production have fixed setup costs: screens, plates, moulds, colour mixing, machine time. Below a certain quantity, the setup costs more per unit than the item itself, which is why unit price drops in steps as quantity rises.

Three practical ways to work with it. First, ask where the price breaks sit — often 100 units is barely more expensive than 75, and the surplus is useful later. Second, consolidate: one design across a range of items can share setup, rather than three small runs of one item each. Third, plan ahead: if you know you will need more in six months, ordering together is almost always cheaper than ordering twice.

We publish MOQ on every product page and quote the full quantity ladder, so you can see exactly where the steps are before you commit.
